Diane Jeays
Yoga was introduced to Diane at a time in her life when the stress and demands of her personal goals and career brought her health into the spotlight. Diane started to practice once a week from this point, however kept on climbing the corporate ladder and continued to hit the gym for her workouts. After time, Diane realised that she was still exhausted and stressed, and the only space where she felt she was able to get present and bring some balance and energy back into her life, was when she was practicing yoga. After a short sabbatical and soul searching overseas, Diane decided to immerse herself into yoga and practice more regularly. Inspired by the immense physical and mental shifts Diane experienced during her practice, plus a little seed dropped by Lauren Vercoe that teaching might be in her future, Diane decided to complete her Level One training.
Diane has developed a strong love for this ancient practice and the personal journey it is taking her on through meditation, pranayama (breath work) and asana practice. Diane is passionate about guiding others on their own individual journey to restore balance to their life and learn skills to manage their everyday demands through yoga.
Diane believes that yoga is a reflection of our life, and a Power Flow class is one great inhale and exhale where the breath moves the body from posture to posture. Diane brings this belief into her teaching by delivering a strong Power Flow class balanced with movement and rest.
While enjoying a dynamic Power Flow class, Diane is also drawn to how the practice can help us turn inward, be present and accepting of yourself. Yoga for Diane is all encompassing and sometimes it might be a strong Power Flow class you need, but other days it might be resting in child’s pose, or turning inward through a meditation practice.
Having practiced regularly at Zenko almost since the doors opened at Buddina, Diane is excited for the opportunity to share her teachings and continue to grow and connect with this beautiful community of Yogi’s.
Getting to know the Zenko Team
Do you have a mantra/quote that you often turn to?
There are so many powerful mantras and quote’s I love, but one that I often like to remind myself of is “Life is a balance between rest and movement” by Osho. To me this quote beautifully captures the balance we should bring to our lives both on and off the mat.
How do you fill up your love tank?
Yoga, pranayama (breath work) and meditation is my key for getting back to the present and being grounded. Swimming in the ocean helps me feel cleansed and re-energized.
What advice would you give someone wondering whether to try yoga for the first time?
YES! Just say YES and give it a try. It is so much more then a physical practice and the benefits are endless. Yoga can bring so much joy to your life it’s incredible. So just get in there and give it a try, knowing that you will ride the wave of ups and downs throughout your journey, and along the path you will find the type of yoga that benefits you the most.
