Kate Houlahan
Kate fell into yoga via Ashtanga- she loved the physical aspect of the practice, the challenge of knowing you were doing the exact same sequence each time and trying to find a different way to experience each pose. Before long she came to realise how the breath could enhance her practice, and not even just her yoga but her life off the mat as well.
Completing her first teaching training in vinyasa in 2014, she has gone on to add power vinyasa, yin, pre & post-natal, alignment and even teaching yoga in Spanish! Her journey has taken her from her original home in Sydney, to teach in Mexico, Nicaragua, Colombia and Broome, before landing in her new home on the Sunshine Coast. When not teaching or looking after her small children you can catch her enjoying the slower pace of life on her property, running through the hinterland or anywhere near the ocean. Getting to know the Zenko Team Do you have a mantra/quote that you often turn to? Toss up between; 'Be yourself, everyone else is taken' and 'Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind' How do you fill up your love tank? As much as my family and friends make me and I’d be lost without them, it’s the time I take for myself to reflect on this that fills me What advice would you give someone wondering whether to try yoga for the first time? Trying new experiences is the essence of life, so just throw yourself into it and you won't look back |
