Melina Demertzis
Melina was initially drawn to yoga for its ability to connect body, mind and spirit and was soon addicted to the soothing qualities of the practice.
After working in corporate for over 20 years, Melina embarked on a life changing journey to complete her 200 Hour Teacher Training with Zenko. This one choice created a ripple effect which lead her to live a fully charged life of creativity and passion. Melina brings a gentle, calming and soothing energy to her classes by creating space for her students in a way they can connect back to themselves to create positive changes within. Her classes can be described as soft and feminine and leave you feeling nurtured, calm and balanced. She believes yoga is for absolutely everyone and is passionate about sharing the magic of yoga to the world and her students. Do you have a mantra/quote that you often turn to? “You don’t have to move mountains. Simply fall in love with life. Be a tornado of happiness, gratitude and acceptance. You will change the world by just being a warm, kind hearted human being” - Anita Krizzan And another one when I am in a cheeky mood…. “You better check yo self before you wreck yo self” - Ice Cube How do you fill up your love tank? So many things…but they are all very simple. I love spending time with my husband, my fur babies and my family. Listening to music, hiking, being in nature, sitting under waterfalls, watching funny movies (I love to laugh), cooking nourishing food, painting and drawing - getting creative and of course yoga! What advice would you give someone wondering whether to try yoga for the first time? Firstly, yes!!! Great work for getting yourself to a class. Secondly, please be so kind to yourself during class, drop that self-judgement. No one is better or worse than you (not even the teacher), we are all in this together ...unity (the very meaning of yoga itself). Tuning into the breath and sensations in your body will really help you get into the zone. And…create a sense of lightness and fun about your practice - it doesn’t have to be serious, smiling at yourself helps (you will see me smiling at you if you come to my classes and also laughing at myself). |
