Stevie comes from a background in health and fitness and for most of her 20s her main focus was on weight lifting and body sculpting. Through her physically active lifestyle, Stevie saw the benefits not only to her physique but also to her mental health. Being a long time sufferer of anxiety, she found that commitment to fitness was imperative to help keep her anxiety at bay, however she felt something was missing. There was a strong desire to become more in tune with her mind and body and the importance of their connection. After beginning the practice of yoga in 2014 Stevie began seeing the value of its power and this new and exciting path lead her to complete her 200hr teacher training course with Zenko Yoga.
Stevie found that when she steps on her mat she not only feels present, but through the silence of this moving meditation she feels calm and finds clarity. Stevie’s dream is to share the practice of yoga with as many people as possible; people of all ages, walks of life and in particular those suffering with anxiety. Her classes range from peaceful and relaxing to energetic, sweat-inducing vinyasa flows. She infuses her passion for yoga in each posture with particular emphasis on the breath, exploring movement and stillness, and discovering relationships between body, mind, and spirit.
When Stevie isn’t practicing yoga, you’ll find her in her sanctuary, her home, hanging out with her family and spending quality time with her two beautiful children. Stevie does love balance though and as much as she loves the peace and quiet, she also lives for music, both old and new, laughing over coffee with friends and the odd cheeky cocktail after a hard weeks work.
