Ayurveda in Practice
30hr Certificate for Yoga Teachers & Students
Part-Time Online: 5th May - 2nd June 2021. 6pm - 8pm
In-Person Immersion: 12-14th June 2021
Ayurveda, “The Science of Life”, is an ancient holistic system for living that's as relevant and powerful today as it's ever been. It provides simple, practical tools for creating balance and self-healing that can be understood and practiced by anyone.
The “Sister Science” to yoga, Ayurveda believes good health results from creating harmony between our internal environment (mind, body, spirit) and the external world around us. When we're able to find this balance, we create the foundation for preventing illness, and for living in the most authentic and healthy way possible. Inherently aligned with the path of yoga, Ayurveda provides the practical guidance for yogic living.
Immerse yourself in the wisdom of Ayurveda for better understanding and a deeper connection to yourself and your yoga. Embodied Ayurveda is an invitation to practice for yourself and your students. You’ll build your skills as a yoga student or teacher with direct experience, practical knowledge and tools for incorporating Ayurveda, the foundations of yogic living, into your yoga practice, your classes or workshops and your life!
THIS COURSE IS FOR:
● Experienced yoga students looking to deepen their practice of yoga and better understand the fundamentals of yogic lifestyle and self care.
● Yogis who have struggled to understand and apply the principles of Ayurveda in their lives. ● Yoga teachers and students who are looking to broaden their understanding of how Ayurveda and vedic principles apply to yoga practice.
● Yoga teachers who are interested in expanding their skills and tools for sharing yogic teachings with clients and students.

Part 1 - Ayurveda in Life
What does it look like to live everyday from the intention of creating balance? This module is a practical introduction to yoga’s sister science. We’ll unravel and explore the key principles of Ayurveda, to create clarity and an appreciation for how to apply them in your life, leaving you with a powerful foundation for living authentically. Through an “Ayurvedic lens” we’ll explore the following questions...
Who am I ● What am I made of ● How do I function ● How can I thrive
You will learn:
● Samkhya Cosmology - A universal model for the universe… and you.
● Five element theory (Panchamahabhutas)- The building blocks of you and your life
● Tri-Dosha Theory - The energies that run your show
● The qualities of the material world (Gunas) - A qualitative model for feeling and healing
● Managing the internal fires - Agni and the subtle art of digesting life.
● The principles of Ayurvedic psychology and mental health
● Routines for daily & seasonal living - Aligning with nature’s rhythm and your own.
Part 2 - Ayurveda in yoga
There are many reasons that we come to our mats, but Ayurveda recognizes just one… balance. Not all yoga is created equal. How you practice, when you practice and what you practice makes a difference. Ayurveda gives us access to a deeper understanding of the energetic effects of our yoga. It helps us recognize how and if our practice is supporting or sabotaging our wellness. It is the wisdom upon which classical yoga therapy rests.
This module explores the relationship between yoga and ayurveda, and how we can use yoga as a tool to uncover disharmony in the body-mind, and as “medicine” to restore the balance.
You will learn:
● Yoga & Ayurveda - The history of the ancient sisterhood
● The three causes of disease - An Ayurvedic look at the connection between yoga and healing
● Ayurveda & The Yoga Sutras - The keys to life and practice
● Yoga for reclaiming balance - The energetics of asana, pranayama and meditation
● Embodying the doshas and gunas - Interoceptive experiencing of the principle energies and qualities of Ayurveda
● Bringing your practices home - Creating a personal, somatic toolkit for balancing mind and body
● Cultivating balance in your classes - How to empower your students to choose themselves.
This Training Will Prepare You To...
● Incorporate Ayurveda into your yoga practice, your teaching and your life.
● Live a yogic lifestyle in accordance with the rhythms of the natural world and your own true nature.
● Explore your own personal practice from a deeper understanding of your individual energetic and material form (prakriti)
● Apply the eight limbs of yoga to manage imbalances and foster good health, joy and wellbeing.
● Use asana, meditation, and pranayama as tools for creating energetic balance, and physical, mental and emotional resilience.
● Teach classes and workshops based upon energetic, and seasonal themes.
● Design one-on-one yoga sessions applying basic Ayurvedic principles.
● Design group and private yoga practices to establish holistic seasonal wellness.
● Empower your students to practice yoga in a way that aligns with who they are and what they need in the moment and in life.
● Deepen your practice and expand your reach as a yoga student or teacher

Testimonials:
What recent students have to say about this course...
“I would (and already have!) recommended this course to yoga teachers who want to grow their understanding of Ayurveda and how to begin to bring Ayurveda into their life and Yoga. It is a very approachable course for diving into the vast topic of Ayurveda.” - Sarah, Yoga Teacher
“You have such a beautiful teaching style, which makes people feel comfortable right away. Everything about the way you show up is welcoming and accepting. I felt that everybody's questions were acknowledged and answered in a thoughtful and mindful way. The content is extremely detailed and rich with so much information, but you make it easy to understand and I didn't feel overwhelmed by it.The way you have connected Ayurveda and Yoga to Mental Health, Yoga Sutras, and not made it just about the Doshas and what you eat is brilliant. The permission to notice how one feels before making choices has really opened this up for me. It's not just all about the Doshas. These teachings really changed my understanding. The format worked very well.” - Jenny, Senior Yoga Teacher
“Deepened my knowledge of Ayurveda, it made me want to learn more about myself, my practice and I think it's useful for all yoga teachers to learn more about Ayurveda and how you can integrate it with your own studies, practice and then share it with your students.” Rose, Senior Yoga Teacher
“Thank you so much for such a fabulous experience. It has changed the way I look at everything.” Marni, Yoga student
“I just want to say how much I enjoyed and received in taking this course. My goal was to feel like I could better articulate Ayurveda both in words and in the body, and I feel like I am at the growth point with the information resonating in a way that I can share with others. I am so grateful that you and your light are in the world, and I appreciate this opportunity to learn from you. Thank you so very, very much.” - Becca, Yoga Teacher
“This course has made me realise even more that every one of us is truly unique and we need to approach our individual life in the most tailored way possible. I have started to pay so much more attention to how my body reacts to the food that I eat. Do I feel energised, lethargic, full of vitality or just dull after having had a meal? How does that impact my mind? Chara, thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity to learn more about Ayurveda and how to include this wisdom in the day to day activities!” - Ute, Senior Yoga Teacher
“First of all, let me say how much I enjoyed every single second of this course. I could not believe how much I learned, how much I had no idea about, and how it has expanded my understanding of Ayurveda in an enormous way. I feel I can talk about this with some level of confidence to students without overwhelming them. You have made it all so accessible! Just wonderful!"
"Thank you Chara. Thank you for your teachings, the way you share this information, and for your enthusiastic love for all of this. I have become beautifully engaged with it, but I'm relaxing that Pitta part of me that wants to have it all perfect!!! I'm giving myself time to learn and breathe.” - Antonia, Yoga Teacher
