AYURVEDIC PRACTICES COURSE

Course Overview
“Ayurveda in the simplest terms is the practice of living like you love yourself.”
Ayurveda ('the Science of Life') is an ancient holistic system for living that's as relevant and powerful today as it's EVER been. It provides simple, practical tools for creating balance and self-healing that can be understood and practiced by anyone.

Viewed as the 'sister science' to yoga, Ayurveda believes good health results from creating harmony between our internal environment (mind, body, spirit) and the external world around us. When we're able to find this balance, we create the foundation for preventing illness, and for living in the most authentic and healthy way possible.
Immerse yourself in the wisdom of Ayurveda for better understanding and a deeper connection to yourself and your yoga practice and teachings.  The Living Ayurveda module is an invitation to explore the teachings and foundations of practice for yourself and your students. You’ll then build your skills as a teacher with direct experience and practical knowledge for incorporating Ayurveda into your private and group classes, your own workshops and your life!

This course consists of two modules that are open to both yoga teachers and non-yoga teachers alike:

Module 1 - Living Ayurveda
WHO AM I ● WHAT AM I MADE OF ● HOW DO I FUNCTION ● HOW CAN I THRIVE

What does it look like to live everyday from the intention of creating balance? This module
explores the tools and foundation for finding your own unique formula for thriving.

In this module you will learn:
  • Five element theory - The building blocks of you and your life
  • Tri Dosha Theory - The energies that run your show
  • The qualities of the material world (Gunas) - Seeing the world through Ayurveda glasses
  • Agni/Ama -The fire of life and how to keep it burning
  • Three Causes of disease - The truth about what holds you back
  • A formula for creating balance:
    • Eat like you love yourself - 3 rules to live, and eat by
    • Think like you love yourself - Cultivating a peaceful mind
    • Act like you love yourself - Ayurvedic self care & daily routine

Module 2 - Ayurveda in Practice
This module explores the relationship between Yoga and Ayurveda, and how we can use yoga as a tool to uncover disharmony in the body-mind and to restore the balance.

There are many reasons that we come to our mats, but Ayurveda recognises just one… balance. Not all yoga is created equal. How you practice, when you practice and what you practice makes a difference.

Ayurveda gives us access to a deeper understanding of the energetic effects of our
yoga. It helps us recognise how and if our practice is supporting or sabotaging our wellness. It is the wisdom upon which yoga therapy rests.

In this module we'll explore;
  • Yoga & Ayurveda - The history of the ancient sisterhood
  • Ayurveda & The eight limbs - How Ayurveda supports all aspects of yoga
  • The art of feeling who you are - How to recognise the five elemental energies in the body and the room.
  • The elements of a blissful yoga practice - The elemental energetics of asana, pranayama and meditation
  • Yoga & Agni - Yoga for kindling the internal fire

Key Learning Outcomes
Completing both modules will give students the knowledge to incorporate and integrate practices of Yoga and Ayurveda for their own personal well-being and to support their growth as teachers. It will also:
  • Bring Vedic teachings into daily and seasonal living.
  • Explore personal practice from a deeper understanding of individual energetic and material form (prakriti).
  • Use asana, meditation, and pranayama as tools for creating energetic balance, and physical, mental and emotional resilience.
  • Explain and create understanding around how ancient practices support modern life and foster good health, joy and wellbeing.
  • Guide teachers in sharing the wisdom of Ayurveda through individual and group yoga classes.
  • Provide the tools for customising one-on-one yoga sessions applying basic Ayurvedic principles.
  • Develop your skills in teaching a variety of classes based upon various, seasonal, and energetic themes.
